Case Study: Interactive Learning Platform

LexiaHeroes

LexiaHeroes is an interactive learning management platform providing at-home dyslexia intervention that any parent can manage for their struggling reader. LexiaHeroes is the vision of Pam Taylor, a Masters Certified Barton Tutor, certified Orton-Gillingham teacher and Certified Dyslexia Practitioner. It implements the science of learning in a digital and interactive format.

Problem to Solve: Create a cost-effective and online learning tool for dyslexic readers

Historically, dyslexia intervention has consisted of specially trained and certified tutors who implement proven instructional methods in one-on-one and face-to-face settings. The cost, logistics, and availability of this intervention have often proven a barrier to struggling readers, as well as their families and educators who desire to help. We needed to create a readily available way to deliver science-based reading instruction to larger audiences without the direct one-to-one instruction of a trained practitioner, while still doing so using proven and effective tactics.

Goals

Accomplished

LexiaHeroes has successfully launched an initial enrollment cohort of parents and students on the new platform. These families are engaging with:

  • Over 90 lessons, 800 sections and thousands of activities
  • Interactive, touch and sensory-forward experiences: hide/reveal, play audio, trace, draw, create marks and symbols over content
  • Linear and straight-forward curriculum, while remaining responsive to individual learner needs
  • Image and icon based navigation and interaction prompts designed for non-readers
  • Progress tracking, and access to easily review previous content
